Genie is an engaging environmental professional with a multi-disciplinary background working to advance climate justice. Her expertise includes climate adaptation planning, social and environmental justice, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), floodplain management, environmental policy, environmental education, coastal hazards, social-ecological resilience, and green infrastructure / nature-based solutions planning. She is an effective communicator, facilitator, and educator with experience engaging stakeholders in the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors.

Genie is a Program Specialist supporting the Climate Adaptation Partnerships (CAP) program, formerly known as RISA, within the Climate and Societal Interactions division at the NOAA Climate Program Office. This work then led Genie and the two collaborators to serve as JEDI consultants for the National Aquarium to conduct an organizational needs assessment, a series of JEDI trainings, the development of a DEIJ Strategic Plan, and to assist the organization in transitioning to implementation of the DEIJ strategy. Genie has served as a member of DEIJ Committees for the 2019 Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, the DC Department of Energy and Environment, and the NOAA Climate Program Office.
